North Face
I read a review of this film, full of plot. Clear that a movie is also and above interpretation, but it should be noted that Toni Kurz went down in history not for his love with a Nazi journalist but to be dead hanging from the rope after a flight from North Face. You see, briefly, Wikipedia :
"In 1936 there was a further attempt, by two separate arrangements: the Germans Andreas Hinterstoisser and Toni Kurz, and Austrians Willy Angerer and Edi Rainer . Incontratesi on the wall, the two rope teams decided to join forces in the attempt. Hinterstoisser managed to pass the key step of the way, a long traverse above that now bears his name ( crossing Hinterstoisser ). In later stages, however, was struck in the head by Angerer a volley of stones, was wounded, tried to continue anyway. On the fourth day of ascent, because of the poor and Angerer of worsening weather, the group decided to retire, but failing to make the crossing back Hinterstoisser, had to go down the most direct route, very exposed to avalanches and discharges . Near the end of the descent, the group was just overwhelmed by a flood : Angerer, Rainer Hinterstoisser and died immediately, while Toni Kurz died of exhaustion the next day, despite attempts to save him from a ' special rescue team [...]
In 1938 other climbers planned to attempt the Eiger north. There was also an Italian attempt by the Mountaineers' Valdagno Bartolo Sandri and Mario Menti, the parties June 21, two died falling close to the "hard crack" at the bottom of the wall. [4] Another attempt was planned by the mountaineers Lecco group Riccardo Cassin. [5] The Italians, however, were preceded by a consortium Joint German-Austrian, made by German Andreas Heckmair and Vörg Ludwig, and the Austrians Fritz Kasparek and Heinrich Harrer .
Heinrich Harrer (which were inspired by the movie "Seven Years in Tibet") told the story of the Eiger North Face in " North Face," documented and very accurate. His "Seven Years in Tibet " is too famous to be mentioned here. Many years later he also wrote " Return to Tibet", which is more of a book of memories and regrets.
